Gozo General Hospital caters for the health needs of the inhabitants and visitors on the island of Gozo. The Hospital is headed by a Medical Administrator, who is overall responsible for the institution. He is aided by a Lay Administrator responsible for administrative and support services, as well as a Manager Nursing Services, who is responsible for nursing and related services.
The Hospital provides medical and surgical services. There is an emergency service for emergency cases as well as for the admission of patients whose condition requires that they be hospitalized. There are also outpatients’ clinics in different specialities, including ophthalmic and dental clinics.
The Hospital’s functions are supported by paramedical services, including laboratory and radiology services, speech-language therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, a Hyperbaric Unit and ECG.
Patients requiring further specialised treatment are transferred to Malta either by ambulance or by helicopter.
Support services include ambulance transport, an in-hospital pharmacy, laundry, maintenance, kitchen, security and chaplain services.
